What's Da Bizness?

Rich Slave by Young Dolph was one of my favorite albums of 2020 and is still a staple in my rotation. In one of his tracks “What’s Da Bizness?” the chorus goes as follows:

What the business? (What's poppin'?)
What's the business? (What's happenin'?)
What's the business? (What's good?)
What's the business? (What up, though?)
What's the business? (What's poppin'?)
What's the business? (Say what?)
What's the business? (What's the word?)
What's the business? (Yeah, yeah)

Similarly, I am going to tell you “What’s Da Bizness” with this site. This is the first official post for the site and will serve as a Constitution. While I cannot ultimately predict how others abide by this framework, I will try my best to adhere to the framework I have created. Just remember this Constitution can be amended at any time and I have no opposition :).

What This Site Is

• An authentic place for me to write about various topics outside the realm of HBCUs. You will quickly realize the site has no particular direction, I have always preferred to enjoy the journey anyway.

What This Site Isn’t

• A personal highlight reel. I have very little interest in embellishing myself and thus you are unlikely to see anything achievement-related here.

Other Guiding Principles

• If the comments are off, please do not ask me to explicate further on that post. Whatever I publish at that time is done so intentionally and I am not required to explain myself further. One Take Drake.

• Anything I write is a relative truth. Therefore, take what I say with a grain of salt and an understanding that it is all based on perspective.

• Any names used in my posts are changed to protect the privacy of the people in question unless stated otherwise.

So I hope you enjoy reading through this site half as much as I enjoyed writing it for me. Because I had a ball. Only real writing is gonna last—all the other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow...
